Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) - For General Practitioners

NSW Opioid Treatment Program (OTP)

The NSW Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) aims to reduce the harm caused by opioid use. It provides medication and services to people dependent on opioids in NSW.

As a General Practitioner, you play an important role in caring for people in your community. This can include offering Opioid Dependence Treatment (ODT) for patients who need it. Prescribing ODT can be very rewarding, as you will see significant health improvements in your patients.

NSW Health is focusing on moving stable patients to primary care doctors so that public clinics can offer more specialised support to those who need it.

If you are interested in prescribing opioid dependence medications, you can fill out this online expression of interest form. A NSW Health representative will contact you with more information. There is no obligation, and you can opt out at any time.
