In 2022, 2.6% of liveborn babies of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander mothers in NSW had an Apgar score less than 7 at 5 minutes, which is higher than the rate of 1.8% for liveborn babies of non-Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander mothers.
