βIn 2022 the NSW Ministry of Health Workforce Planning and Talent Development (WPTD) Branch undertook a Principles of Allied Health Governance project. This was in alignment with the NSW Health Workforce Plan 2022-2032 β (Priority 3.2) which emphasises the need for NSW Health to 'develop, define, pilot and publish best practice multidisciplinary processes while strengthening clinical and professional governance'.
The NSW Principles of Allied Health Governance report provides a foundation to guide best practice strategic, operational, professional, and clinical allied health governance - all of which are essential for safe and high-quality service delivery. A self-assessment tool has been developed as part of the report to assist Local Health Districts (LHDs) and Specialty Health Networks (SHNs) to understand their current state and provides a roadmap of opportunities to strengthen allied health governance that can be considered for customisation and implementation within LHD/SHN context.
