Mental health and Whole of Health Program

Whole of Health Program (WOHP) Mental Health provides strategic assistance to local health districts/specialty health networks (LHDs/SHNs) and other key stakeholders to improve access to care for mental health consumers across the whole patient journey.

Solutions to improving outcomes for those experiencing mental illness and reducing pressure on Emergency Departments (ED) should also focus on initiatives that provide timely access to holistic care in the community, and where possible alternatives to inpatient admission.

WOHP Mental Health focuses on solutions in key areas such as:

  • ED processes
  • access to specialised services
  • addressing barriers to discharge
  • utilisation of Mental Health Patient Flow tools

WOHP Mental Health works closely with facilities, LHDs/SHNs across the key WOHP domains of performance support, data and analytics, knowledge sharing, and capability development.

The Mental Health Patient Flow Network provides advice and the opportunity to network and share learnings for clinicians and managers involved in mental health patient flow.
