Prescribers and pharmacists are able to access eLearning modules, virtual learning sessions and other resources for support.

Accredited eLearning modules - now available

NSW Health partnered with NPS MedicineWise to develop several eLearning modules and training information. The modules are accredited as part of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for doctors, pharmacists and nurse practitioners.

  • Duration: approximately 45 - 60 minutes

This module provides an overview of SafeScript NSW. It provides health practitioners an opportunity to update their knowledge on the increasing harms from high-risk prescription medicines, and to learn how SafeScript NSW provides additional information to assist with clinical decisions when prescribing or dispensing high-risk medicines.

    Complete module 1

  • Duration: approximately 45 - 60 minutes

This module provides prescribers an opportunity to consider how they manage safety concerns about patients with prescription medicine dependence or those showing signs of high-risk use. It explores planning approaches for the consultation, strategies for collaboration with other health professionals, whole of practice/service approaches to ensure equity and safety for everyone and provides an opportunity to review available management and treatment options.

    Complete module 2 (for prescribers)

  • Duration: approximately 45 - 60 minutes

This module provides pharmacists an opportunity to refresh their knowledge on safe and appropriate dispensing of high-risk medicines, particularly those monitored in SafeScript NSW, and consider how to manage concerns about patient safety regarding their use of these high-risk medicines.

    Complete module 2 (for pharmacists)

  • Duration: approximately 45 - 60 minutes

This module provides foundation information to help health practitioners and their practice/pharmacy prepare for conversations with patients about the potential risks of dependence with monitored medicines.

    Complete module 3
