Scenic adventures in Gamilaroi country

Hear from physiotherapist Belinda who answered the call for help and joined NSW Health’s Deployment Program.

"Dear diary,

My 4 week secondment at Coonabarabran Health Service has passed by already…

I was deployed to Coona (as the locals call it) to cover the vacant physio position. Over the 4 weeks I met and worked with people from all walks of life. People young and old took the opportunity for face-to-face outpatient physiotherapy and were extremely grateful and engaged in their treatment.

During my spare time, I explored the local region. I bushwalked, met some native wildlife, camped out under the stars, tried my hand at pottery and met up with the local Spinning and Weaving group.

Thank you to the Ministry of Health, Hospital-in-the-Home ( Northern Sydney Local Health District) and Coonabarabran Health Service (Western NSW Local Health District) who all supported my secondment and enabled this fantastic opportunity to practice a diversity of physiotherapy and related skills.

Farewell until another time to all the people in Coonabarabran and to Gamilaroi country."
