Winner: Volunteer of the Year
Margaret King is a prominent and highly regarded member of the Griffith community. She has been a tireless champion across many voluntary and health advocacy roles for more than a decade.
Margaret is the Chair of the Griffith Local Health Advisory Committee (LHAC). She has been instrumental in providing feedback and community views to the redevelopment of the Griffith Base Hospital (GBH).
Margaret has driven many health promotion activities to keep the community informed and improve health literacy. She coordinates and attends these events, despite also working full-time.
Margaret played a key role in gathering community input for the hospital’s redevelopment through surveys, expos, and speaking engagements. She is a regular fixture at the Health Infrastructure feedback sessions with the community and writes a monthly LHAC column for the local newspaper.
Margaret also maintains strong connections with the refugee and migrant communities, ensuring their health concerns are represented.
