Master class 11: A continuous state of change: transformation, adaptation and sustainability

The WOHP hosted its 11th Masterclass in November 2017 with the theme of ‘A continuous state of change: transformation, adaptation and sustainability across the system'.

Overvie​w

  • We heard from Russell Harrison, Chief Executive of Western Health Victoria, and his experiences and insights in transforming two facilities and sustaining those improvements in the Victorian Health Service to become one of the best performing organisations within Health Round Table top 10 Diagnosis Related Groups.
  • We learnt about breakthrough collaborative methodology from Bernie Harrison, Director, Australian Council ​on Healthcare Standards Improvement Academy, and what drives innovation and quality improvement throughout the organisation.
  • We learnt methods to come up with ideas when you don’t know where to start and you don’t know where to go and different approaches to innovation.
  • We revisited the winter challenges, learnings and solutions across the districts with 6 of our Whole of Health program leads.
  • We gained practical tips in transformation, adaptation and sustainability through key projects implemented across NSW Health.
  • We heard about the rural Paediatric Telehealth project, Wollongong Hospital's Length of Stay projects, the successful outcomes for patients and relatives who have experienced the new guardianship process.
