Population health research is an interdisciplinary field focused on factors that influence the health of population groups or whole populations. It addresses health outcomes, health determinants, and policies and interventions that link the two.

Population health research uses a range of methodologies to:

  • describe the patterns of health risk factors and health outcomes within and across populations
  • generate potential solutions to health disparities or poor health outcomes
  • test or evaluate policies and interventions to improve population health outcomes.
