Overview

As expected, in 2021 perinatal mortality rates in NSW increased with lower birthweight. Of the 883 perinatal deaths in 2021, 546 (61.8%) occurred in babies that weighed less than 1,000 grams.​

Neonatal deaths comprise babies who were born and died in NSW, including babies who died after discharge or transfer from the hospital of birth.
