NSW Health commissioned CLT Byron Consulting to conduct an action research evaluation of the Adult Survivor Pilot Project, which ran in two local health districts from 2019 – 2022. This research aimed to collecting evaluative data on effective service responses for adult survivors which could inform the state-wide implementation of the new Adult Survivors Program.
The final report's key finding was that to support adult survivors, any new health service must make a transformational shift from a focus on diagnosis and the expertise of the practitioner, to survivor-centred practices. In doing so, services will need to prioritise slow and considered engagement which focuses on creating partnerships with clients, rather than business as usual approaches (CLT Byron Consulting, 2022). These lessons have informed the development of the state-wide Adult Survivors Program model.
