Finalist: Staff Member of the Year

 

Paul Gavel is the Director of People and Culture at HealthShare NSW (HSNSW). He is dedicated to creating a positive, supportive and inclusive workplace where everyone feels safe, valued and supported. Paul believes that a supportive, inclusive and safe is critical to excellent patient care and customer service.

Since joining HSNSW in 2011, Paul has led the organisation’s strategic investment into culture and diversity. He set up dedicated teams and implemented strategies with clear actions and deliverables. This was to ensure HealthShare NSW’s workforce reflects the diverse community we serve and is a place where every employee can thrive.

Through his strong leadership, HSNSW achieved a 22% increase in their culture index in the People Matter Employee Survey (PMES) and exceeded all NSW Government diversity targets.

Paul has also played a key role in leading major health system reforms to deliver value-based healthcare. His success comes through open and transparent communication with staff and stakeholders. Paul’s leadership across People and Culture has been instrumental in building a positive and inclusive workplace.​​
