Submit applications: MOH-CAOD-SCI-FCF@health.nsw.gov.au

Administered by: Centre for Alcohol and Other Drugs, NSW Ministry of Health

Type of grant: Open competitive

1. There is no formula in Schedule C Budget, Tab C: Budget notes. Should applicants insert a total figure only in column I?

Please check which tab you are using in Schedule C. The formula built into Tab C is working. Do not use Tab E of Schedule C, which is for example purposes only. The auto calculation in columns D, F, G and I work once all the data is entered into columns B, C and H. Note: column E is optional.

2. Can a research organisation that is not a non-government organisation partner with a non-government organisation to apply for this grant.

Yes, but the non-government organisation (NGO) must be the lead applicant. If the partnership is awarded a grant, the NSW Ministry of Health will enter into a grant agreement with the NGO and the NGO will be the recipient of all grant funding. The NGO may sub-contract or purchase services from the partner organisation.

3. Our organisation is currently providing comprehensive support programs for alcohol and other drugs (AOD) in two parts of NSW. Are we allowed to submit two separate grant applications for each of our two regions?

Yes. Organisations can submit more than one grant application per stream but can only be awarded one grant. If an organisation submits multiple grant applications in one stream that score highly enough to be suitable for funding, only one of these will be recommended for funding. The recommendation is based on assessment panel score, geographic coverage of all AOD services, achievement of services to targeted groups, risks to government and best value for money outcome on a whole of state basis.

If submitting more than one application, Organisations should identify which application is to be prioritised in the event that more than one application is assessed as suitable for funding by the Assessment Panel AND the Assessment Panel considers the other factors named above do not distinguish one application over the other/s.

If an organisation submits more than one grant application, all documents need to be submitted for each grant application made, i.e. Schedule A, B and C, as per the Grant Guidelines.

4. Schedule B Criterion 1 states “Demonstrate how your organisation is currently delivering effective, evidence-based and sustainable community-based AOD services and supports etc". We are an organisation that delivers Residential and Community based treatment. We wanted to confirm whether the panel only wanted evidence of experience delivering in the community?

We define community-based services as services delivered outside of a hospital. This would include residential services and non-residential services.

5. Will the funding be awarded for a full 36 months, or will it cease 30 June 2026?

The successful applicants will enter into a grant agreement with the NSW Ministry of Health until 30 June 2027. There is a possibility of extension.

6. The items listed under corporate governance in Schedule B, Criterion 1, are commonly in a clinical governance framework, rather than a corporate governance one. Our clinical, not corporate governance framework contains all those items. If we write about these items in the clinical governance section, will we be marked down.

The list of elements of corporate governance in criterion 1 is an error, and as noted a description of clinical governance has mistakenly been provided. Applicants should detail both corporate and clinical governance arrangements in response to selection criterion 1. The Grant Guideline will be amended to correct this.
