NSW Zoonoses Annual Report

Summary

A zoonosis is any disease or infection that is naturally transmissible from vertebrate animals to humans. Worldwide, over 60% of all human pathogens are zoonotic organisms. This report focuses on notifications of selected zoonoses in humans to NSW public health authorities, animal health events investigated in collaboration with the NSW Department of Primary Industries, and post-exposure treatments delivered for the prevention of Australian Bat Lyssavirus.
