Today, NSW
Chief Health Officer, Dr Kerry Chant, again reiterated the importance of coming
forward for testing, even with minimal symptoms.“It is
essential at this time as we ease restrictions that we maintain and sustain
those high rates of testing in the community”, she said.
Two new
cases were recorded in the last 24 hours, with 5,304 people tested in the same
period.
Dr Chant
also stated she was confident school communities have adjusted to COVID-safe
measures, and reminded parents and carers to apply common sense and physical
distancing.
This comes
as NSW announced schools will return to full-time face-to-face learning from
Monday 25 May.
“We would
ask parents and carers to take particular caution at those times of drop off
and pick up and recognise that the way schools will be conducting their
business will be different”, Dr Chant said.
The state’s total case number is now 3,078 with 101 being
treated by NSW Health. Five people are currently in ICU, two of which are on
ventilators.
