The fourth meeting of the Regional Health Ministerial Advisory Panel was held virtually on 18 November 2022 and was chaired by Richard Colbran PhD, Chief Executive Officer of NSW Rural Doctors Network.
The Hon. Bronnie Taylor MLC, Minister for Regional Health provided an update on recent government initiatives for regional health such as the pharmacy reform to expand community health care, which the Panel discussed in some detail, and the opening of Menopause Health hubs including a rural network hub lead by Hunter New England Local Health District.
The Panel briefed the Minister on key themes of interest such as equity of remuneration for Junior Medical Officers across metropolitan and regional areas, particularly in relation to travel and accommodation support for placements.
Luke Sloane, the Coordinator General of the Regional Health Division presented to the Panel on the work that NSW Health has been doing to improve accountability and transparency for staff and the community.
The next meeting of the Panel will be held on 2 December 2022.
