The fifth meeting of the Regional Health Ministerial Advisory Panel was held virtually on 2 December 2022 and was chaired by Richard Colbran PhD Chief Executive Officer of NSW Rural Doctors Network.
Ms Laura Hand-Ross discussed the need for greater partnership with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health sector and people to ensure culturally appropriate and safe health care. The Panel agreed that there needs to be genuine partnership with Aboriginal communities and organisations to inform the Panel on how to improve health outcomes for Aboriginal people in NSW.
The Panel discussed key themes of interest around increasing transparency and accountability and its role in building trust. Of particular interest was the need to identify expectations of different stakeholder groups, ensure services are designed in consultation and that reporting is easily accessible and tailored to suit the different stakeholder groups.
The next meeting will be held in early February 2023.
