In 2017, NSW Health held roundtable meetings and consultations on palliative care to hear directly from communities, clinicians and service providers. Following this, a consultation paper and survey were made available for the broader community to share their feedback and provide input into palliative care planning. Around 2000 people completed the survey, including over 350 family members, carers or health consumers, and over 700 health care professionals.
This report provides a summary of their responses. This revealed overwhelming community agreement with the priorities identified in the roundtables and workshops. Feedback gathered through the survey and the Palliative Care Roundtable meetings informed the End of Life and Palliative Care Framework in NSW, which was released in 2019.
