NSW Health recognises the importance of addressing oral health within Aboriginal communities. Here you can find information about how to keep your mouth healthy. These resources have been developed with NSW Local Health Districts and Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services.

Pregnancy

A lot of changes happen to your body when you are pregnant. Pregnancy hormones, morning sickness and some food cravings can make looking after your teeth more difficult and increase your risk of having dental problems. The Healthy Smiles during Pregnancy brochure for pregnant Aboriginal women gives tips on healthy teeth and gums during pregnancy.

Children

Oral Health is essential for our health and wellbeing. We know that most lifetime habits start in early childhood so this is the best time for children to learn habits that can help them become healthy adults.

Here are some resources promoting good oral health for children.

Adults

The Healthy Smiles for Adults brochure promotes good oral health for adults.
