Major milestone for 130-year-old Bowral & District Hospital

04 March 2025

Bowral & District Hospital is celebrating a wonderful milestone in its 130-year-plus history with the centrepiece of the $55 million Stage 2 redevelopment, the new Outpatient Centre, opening for patient care today.

The hospital’s much-loved 1930s-era former administration building has been transformed into the contemporary state-of-the-art Outpatient Centre, retaining many of its original features and historical charm, including a landmark magnolia tree.

Known as the OC, it features a full suite of allied health services including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, social work, speech pathology, podiatry and dietetics. The new centre also includes medical clinics, such as general medicine, cardiac diagnostics/rehabilitation and geriatrics, a modern gymnasium, and Aboriginal Dreaming Garden.

The final phase of the Stage 2 redevelopment, the refurbishment of the General Services Building (formerly Milton Park), is progressing and is expected to be completed later this year.

It will bring hospital support services together including the Clinical Information Department, Education and Simulation Centre, administration unit, and other essential back-of-house services.

The community is invited to an open day on Saturday 5 April from 9.00am to 1.00pm.

During the event, community members can take part in tours of the OC, enjoy morning tea and browse health information stalls.
