The Bathurst community is being invited to have their say on the latest designs for the $ million Bathurst Hospital Redevelopment, which is set to transform healthcare services for the region.
Minister for Regional Health Ryan Park said the schematic design showcases the modern health facilities that will be delivered as part of the redevelopment, including the new and expanded emergency department, new main entry on Mitre Street and improved access to greenspace.
The Bathurst Hospital Redevelopment will deliver a mix of new and refurbished areas including an expanded emergency department and maternity services alongside a new modern non-acute mental health inpatient unit (Panorama House).
It will also include improvements to inpatient, outpatient and community health services, operating theatres, cardiology services and a new integrated paediatrics zone, alongside a planned expansion to Daffodil Cottage.
Mr Park said the hospital design has been informed by extensive feedback from health professionals, staff, patients, Aboriginal community representatives and the Community Reference Group.
Access to the hospital for patients, staff and visitors through pedestrian access, car parking and public transport will be delivered through the new Mitre Street front entrance, retention of the Howick Street entrance as well as improved parking on the surrounding streets.
The Bathurst community is encouraged to attend one of following community consultation sessions or provide feedback via the project website Bathurst Hospital Redevelopment:
The State Significant Development Application for the Bathurst Hospital redevelopment is expected to be lodged later this year with construction expected to start in 2025 following planning approvals.
