NSW recorded no new locally acquired cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm last night.

Eight new cases were acquired overseas to 8pm last night, bringing the total number of cases in NSW since the beginning of the pandemic to 5,206.

There were 11,943 tests reported to 8pm last night, compared with the previous day's total of 5,785.

NSW Health thanks everyone in the community who has come forward for testing, and urges anyone with even the mildest of COVID symptoms to immediately get tested and isolate.

It is pleasing to see an increase in the number of people who have come forward for testing. High testing rates are one of our best defences against COVID-19, as they allow us to detect new cases early and prevent further transmission.

There were 3,702 COVID-19 vaccines administered by NSW Health in the 24 hours to 8pm last night. The total number of vaccines administered by NSW Health is now 181,435.

Investigations are continuing into how transmission of COVID-19 occurred between two groups of returned travellers in hotel quarantine at Adina Apartment Hotel at Town Hall. All contacts tested to date have returned negative results.

A case of COVID-19 has been detected in a fully vaccinated New Zealand airport worker, and NZ Health has listed several locations of concern visited by this person while potentially infectious.

While the risk is considered to be low, anyone travelling to NSW from NZ, or who has done so in recent days, should check the list of locations to see if they have been to any of these locations of concern. Anyone who has been to any of these places should call 1800 943 553.

NSW Health is treating 78 COVID-19 cases, one of whom is in intensive care and on ECMO ventilatory support. Most (91 per cent) are being treated in non-acute, out-of-hospital care, including returned travellers in the Special Health Accommodation.
