Member for Tweed Geoff Provest today announced the site of the new $5.9 million Pottsville Ambulance Station, with work soon to get underway.

“With our growing population, it is vital that we ensure we can deliver life-saving care when it is needed in our community,” Mr Provest said.

“This site at 1128 Pottsville Road will include parking for up to four Ambulances, new offices, staff parking and, most importantly, the location means a quick response when minutes can make a difference between life and death.

“In 2015, I announced that the new Ambulance station would be underway within the next term of Government and today’s announcement means I and the Liberal & Nationals Government are fulfilling that promise to the community.

“This new station will complement the $3.7 million Pottsville HealthOne which is already delivering top notch health care to our community,” Mr Provest said.

Health Minister Brad Hazzard joined Mr Provest today at the site along with local paramedics.

“Under the former Labor government, they did nothing to future-proof our ambulance services,” Mr Hazzard said.

“That is why across the State, the Liberal & Nationals Government is investing $122 million into the Rural Ambulance Infrastructure Reconfiguration (RAIR) Program, which is the biggest rural and regional transformation in NSW Ambulance’s history.

“Across rural and regional areas, 22 ambulance stations are either being built or upgraded.

“In addition, we are spending over $151 million on NSW aeromedical retrieval services including those that operate out of Lismore.

“In this year’s budget the NSW Government has spent nearly $1 billion on Ambulance services – something only we can deliver and Labor is incapable of delivering,” Mr Hazzard said.
