Expressions of interest are now open for a $20 million Domestic and Family Violence Innovation Fund to create new approaches to break the cycle of domestic and family violence.

In launching the opening of the fund today NSW Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Pru Goward said the Government is keen to partner with non-government organisations who offer outcomes-focused solutions.

“Domestic and family violence is one of our biggest social problems. The NSW Government recognises that breaking the intergenerational cycle of violence requires new ways of thinking, working and collaborating,” Ms Goward said.

“The $20 million Innovation Fund is an Australian first and signifies the NSW Government’s commitment to strengthening prevention, early intervention and crisis services, as well as continuing support for victims of domestic and family violence.”

“I invite non-government organisations, including service providers and social enterprises to form partnerships, develop innovative solutions and submit an expression of interest,” Ms Goward said.

Ms Goward also unveiled the NSW Domestic and Family Violence Prevention and Early Intervention Strategy 2017-2021, which lays the foundation for the Innovation Fund.

“The Prevention and Early Intervention Strategy informs the way NSW Government agencies, non-government organisations and communities design and deliver prevention and early intervention activities,” Ms Goward said.

“This Strategy is just one of the ways in which we are trying to reduce the cycle of domestic and family violence.”
