The Specialist Mental Health Services for Older People (SMHSOP) Acute Inpatient Unit Model of Care Project Report articulates a model of care for NSW SMHSOP acute inpatient units, in line with priorities outlined in the NSW Service Plan for SMHSOP (2005-2015). The purpose of the Report is to promote effective inpatient care and good practice in SMHSOP acute inpatients units, guide service improvement and service development in existing units, and inform planning for new units. The Report may also provide the basis for service review in existing units and post occupancy evaluations of new units.
