Beryl Harris

Southern NSW Local Health District

Beryl Harris
For 34 years Beryl has been an exceptional volunteer making continuous efforts to help others. Beryl began her career as a trained nurse at Bega Hospital and in 1967 left to start a family. She has been volunteering at Bega Hospital since 1985.

Beryl led the establishment of the Pink Ladies and Oncology volunteers at Bega and has been a volunteer for Palliative Care, Pastoral Care, the Hospital Auxiliary, Dementia Delirium Hospital program, Sub-Acute Rehabilitation Breakfast Club and the Fracture Clinic.

In 1999 Beryl was diagnosed with breast cancer requiring surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy; this did not deter her from volunteering in the Oncology Unit. Beryl’s commitment to volunteering is astounding and undeniably impressive.

Beryl’s contributions have made a significant impact on the hospital, our programs, staff and patients. Without her dedication, passion, motivation and enthusiasm for volunteering our programs would not have enjoyed the success they have.
