Master class: Acute mental health response for children and young people

The acute Mental Health response for children and young people was identified as an area requiring review by almost every hospital that the Whole of Health Team has visited over the last 12 months. Specifically it was reported that the process for children and young people presenting to the Emergency Departments and the access to child and adolescent beds required improvement.

Through a series of site visits, data analysis, policy review and sharing of learnings, the Whole of Health Program (WOHP) is working jointly with MH-Children and Young People (MH-CYP) to improve acute mental health responses for children and young people.

The Whole of Health Acute Response for Children and Young People Master Class, which was held on 30th June 2015 in Sydney and run in conjunction with MH-CYP, showcased several redesign and outreach approaches currently underway in NSW.
