NSW Health is working closely with local businesses to help them get ready for smoke-free outdoor dining. There is strong public support for making outdoor dining areas smoke-free and a number of business have already banned smoking in their outdoor dining areas.
Here some of their stories.
The outdoor dining area at the Shop 3 Coffee cafe in Gosford is smoke-free. Proprietor, Mr Steven Scalvos said that making the change has been positive and suits most of his costumers.
The Sahra Restaurant in Parramatta has already phased out smoking, including water-pipe, from their outdoor dining area. Proprietor and grandfather, Mr Talal Alamein is concerned about the harms of smoking on future generations.
With barely a huff or a puff, customers of salad run in Dubbo's Macquarie Street accept owner Sharon Campbell's decision to ban smoking at outside tables.
The Beach House restaurant is going smoke-free in their outdoor dining area to the cut-off date because they want to lead the way and make sure their customers are ready.
Many Clarence businesses are already prepared for the new smoking bans.
