NSW again recorded high levels of testing for COVID-19, with 8117 tests in the last 24-hours.
Six new cases were diagnosed in the same period, bringing the state’s total to 3059.
There was one new death, a woman passenger from the Ruby Princess cruise ship.
Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant thanked the community for their efforts in being tested and said it needs to continue.
“Maintaining these high testing rates gives us that assurance that we are on top of any community transmission as it emerges,” Dr Chant said.
“I would like to also re-emphasise the importance of social distancing measures, but also combined with those hygiene measures of washing your hands, not going out or not going to workplaces if you have the most minimal of symptoms,” she said.
The latest results come as NSW Health released an epidemiology report, showing people are on average presenting for testing just one day after the onset of symptoms.
“Can I just congratulate the community for that,” Dr Chant said.
“Our ability to stop this disease is a shared one and I just want to say how pleased I am with the response to date in looking at those metrics, we are in a very positive place and I want to keep them there,” she said.
