Districts and networks are responsible for advising the NSW Ministry of Health of new and emerging health technologies by submitting new health technology submission form.

The following eligibility criteria are to be considered before submission of new health technologies to the Ministry.

  • The intervention is complex and requires a highly skilled workforce, highly specialised infrastructure and/or procedures.
  • The cost of service provision is of significance to the NSW Health system. This may
include the requirement for a flexible and/or individualised purchasing approach.
  • The patient volume is low and requires only selected sites to meet safety and quality
outcomes and achieve service proficiency in NSW.

Further information is provided in the New Health Technologies and Specialised Services guideline.
