The Safer Streetscapes for Older People Project, a qualitative falls research project in Wellington NSW, assessed comments from older people about the streetscape environment, to assess the suitability of current standards to their needs. The project used a combination of environmental, advocacy and educative strategies to improve the safety of the streetscapes in the study area. The Wellington Shire Council responded well to the project and incorporated all seven project recommendations into its management plan. The project was funded by the Health Promotion Demonstration Research Grants Scheme.
