Undergraduate nursing and midwifery clinical placement grants

Applications for clinical placement grants are open twice per calendar year. For 2025 application periods are:

  • 17 February 2025 to 2 May 2025
  • 21 July 2025 to 7 November 2025

About the grants

Grants of up to $1,000 for clinical placements in a NSW public health facility are available if you're a NSW student studying a Bachelor of Nursing or Bachelor of Midwifery degree.

These grants assist with the accommodation and travel expenses associated with your placement.

The amount of the grant is based on the distance between your home University campus and the location of the clinical placement.

Distance (one way):

  • 751km+: $1,000
  • 351-750km: $600
  • 150-350km: $400.

Grants are limited to one per applicant per calendar year.

  • Applications for clinical placement grants are open twice per calendar year. For 2025 application periods are:

    • 17 February 2025 to 2 May 2025
    • 21 July 2025 to 7 November 2025

    Grants are limited to one per applicant per calendar year.

  • You're eligible to apply for a clinical placement grant if you:

    • are an Australian citizen or a Permanent Resident of Australia
    • reside in NSW
    • are an undergraduate student enrolled in a Bachelor of Nursing or a Bachelor of Midwifery degree doing a clinical placement in a public health facility in NSW
    • are willing to participate in an evaluation or telephone survey about the NSW nursing and midwifery scholarship fund.

    Applicants who have received a Tertiary Health Study Subsidy are eligible to apply for a Clinical Placement Grant.

  • As part of the application process, applicants must complete an online application form and provide a document on university letterhead that includes written confirmation from your university coordinator of your placement:

    • location
    • dates
    • duration
    • semester (whether you're studying in semester 1 or semester 2 this year).

  • Prior to applications opening I have:

    • read the information available about the grants
    • checked that I am eligible to apply for the grants
    • marked key dates in my diary
    • have written confirmation on university letterhead of placement details from my university coordinator.
