If you're a previously registered midwife, our re-entry to midwifery scholarships help you re-enter practice in the NSW public health system through supervised practice.
If you want to re-enter practice as a midwife, you have to meet the requirements of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA). This may include a period of supervised practice.
For more information on re-registration visit:
Re-entry to midwifery scholarships valued up to $15,000 are available to local health districts and specialty networks to support your supervised practice. If the NMBA has allowed provisional registration (with conditions), you may be employed during this time.
Our re-entry scholarships are linked to subsequent employment. You must commit to permanent full or part time employment (minimum 16 hours per week) in NSW Health for two years after successfully completing your NMBA approved re-entry to practice pathway and getting full registration.
To apply for a re-entry to midwifery scholarship you must:
The local health district or specialty network must also have a suitable position that's available and identified.
Once you have received a formal letter of advice from the NMBA regarding re-entry requirements, contact the nursing and midwifery workforce manager in the local health district or specialty network where you'd like to be employed to discuss employment opportunities.
If a suitable employment opportunity exists, and you agree to accept an offer of employment as per the conditions above, the local health district or specialty network will contact the Nursing and Midwifery Office to progress your application.
For more information contact the Nursing and Midwifery Office on (02) 9391 9528 or via email at MOH-nurse@health.nsw.gov.au.
