The Mentoring in Midwifery (MiM) Program has been developed by The Nursing and Midwifery Office (NaMO), NSW Ministry of Health, and is a collaboration with Professor Belinda Dewar and Dr Edel Roddy (Scotland), underpinned by Appreciative Inquiry, Caring Conversations and the Senses Framework.
The overall aim of this program is to develop a reciprocal learning relationship that expands opportunities for connection, learning and growth for midwives and midwifery students.
Every year the NSW Health Nursing and Midwifery Office offer a variety of scholarships to support midwives and midwifery students. You can apply for financial support to undertake a university program of study, clinical placements. Innovation scholarships are also available to support midwives to trial and apply new ideas and innovations in the workplace.
To improve health outcomes, the Aboriginal Nursing and Midwifery Strategy has made it a priority to provide employment opportunities and support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander nurses and midwives working in NSW Health.

Midwifery leadership networks connect and collaborate midwifery leaders across NSW Maternity Services. NSW Health Nursing and Midwifery Office host networks, groups and Communities of Practice (CoP) to support midwives to connect.
A community of midwives across NSW Health, supporting midwives and maternity services to co-create, implement and sustain Midwifery Continuity of Care Models.
This community networks together, sharing resources and hosts monthly interactive virtual webinar gatherings. This community also supports supports the usability of the Continuity of Care Models: A Midwifery Toolkit

A group co-led by the Principal Advisor Aboriginal Nursing and Midwifery Strategy and Principal Advisor Midwifery. This group supports Aboriginal Midwife leaders from across NSW Health. The aim is to provide leadership and strategic oversight to guide Nursing and Midwifery Office led projects and programs focused on the development of the Aboriginal midwifery workforce.

A community of practice of midwifery mentor facilitators and coordinators across NSW Health. The community shares resources and supports the continued sustainability of the Mentoring in Midwifery (MiM) program. Mentoring in Midwifery resources and contacts are available for each local health districts.

This network is a peak forum for advocacy and for NSW Health Midwifery. Representatives from every Local Health Districts (LHDs) collaborate to lead strategies that will build the capacity of the midwifery workforce in NSW. Providing a state-wide network for strategic advice and collaboration within and between LHDs and the NSW Health Nursing and Midwifery Office (NaMO).
This community of practice provides support and leadership development for clinicians across NSW. The CoP meet three times a year, to support each other in best practice, advocacy for women, and learn about FGM/C care.
