20 February 2024

Community members are invited to take a behind the scenes look at the new $723.3 million Tweed Valley Hospital at a Community Open Day on Saturday 16 March 2024.

Regional Health Minister Ryan Park said visitors will be able to take a walk through some of the key hospital services, including the emergency department, maternity services, cancer services and the outpatient department.

The new Tweed Valley Hospital will provide a number of new and enhanced services including new interventional cardiology, new radiotherapy as part of integrated cancer care, satellite medical imaging within the Emergency Department, and enhanced surgical services.

The hospital will also provide an expanded outpatients department, mental health service and medical inpatient units.

With construction of the hospital complete, work is underway to ensure that the new building and its staff are ready to safely receive patients. This includes installing furniture, fixtures, and equipment, completing clinical cleaning, stocking departments with medical consumables, and training and orientating staff.

The Community Open Day is a free event, with kids' activities and refreshments also available on the day. Free onsite parking will be available in the multi-deck carpark.
