$250 million Griffith Base Hospital redevelopment has achieved a major milestone, with construction of the new three-storey clinical services building reaching its highest point.
Regional Health Minister Ryan Park said the new clinical services building is the centrepiece of the hospital’s redevelopment, which is one of the largest infrastructure projects in the region.
“Today’s ‘topping out’ ceremony is a significant milestone in the construction of this new health facility, which will enhance healthcare for our community and increase capacity to better meet the current and future health needs of this growing area of NSW,” Mr Park said.
“When complete, the purpose-built clinical services building will house all major health services under the one roof, significantly enhancing health services and facilities for Griffith and surrounding communities.
“The redevelopment will support contemporary models of care and improve patient experiences, including a new aged care and rehabilitation inpatient unit and expanded outpatient services with more specialist clinic rooms and renal and oncology chairs.”

Parliamentary Secretary for Health Dr Michael Holland said the hospital has been designed in close collaboration with staff and clinicians and will feature three palliative care rooms for patients and their loved ones.
“Inpatient rooms with ensuites, community courtyard areas, landscaped gardens and a café will also be included as part of the redevelopment, all designed to create a welcoming and supportive environment for patients, visitors and staff,” Dr Holland said.
“With work ramping up, there are over 100 people on site each day to support construction, including a number of women who have taken up a diverse range of roles, including project engineers, administrators and design managers,” Dr Holland said.
In addition to the world-class health facility, the new hospital continues to provide a real boost to the local economy, supporting hundreds of jobs and helping to build the careers of many women in the industry.
Member for Murray, Helen Dalton, welcomed the news on the redevelopment.
“This redevelopment faced unacceptable delays under the former government, but it’s great to now see real progress being made at the Griffith Base Hospital under the Minns Government,” Ms Dalton said.
“The people of Murray have always deserved a first-class facility and this redevelopment will go some way to ensuring they get it. Minister Park has been very proactive and that’s incredibly encouraging for everyone in my electorate.”
With the hospital structural works completed, the project team will continue the internal fit-out, services installation and exterior works.
Health services are continuing to operate during construction, with the new hospital on track for completion in 2025.
