There has been one death over the reporting period, of a 88-year-old female resident of Newmarch House. NSW Health extends its deepest condolences to the family.

There have been 16 deaths linked to that aged care facility and 46 deaths overall in NSW.

There are currently 129 COVID-19 cases being treated by NSW Health. This includes 13 people being treated in Intensive Care Units, with nine of those requiring ventilators. 81 per cent of cases are in non-acute, out-of-hospital care.

There have now been 2,418 people who have recovered from COVID-19 in NSW.

Of the nine new COVID-19 cases in the reporting period, one was from a staff member at Newmarch House, meaning there are 66 cases linked to the facility; 29 staff and 37 residents. A total of 43 staff and 27 residents were tested yesterday with all results negative.

In other new cases, a 52-year-old female nurse at a GP surgery in the Illawarra Shoalhaven area was diagnosed with COVID-19. She did not work during her infectious period and investigations are underway.

Two cases were from returned overseas travellers being quarantined in hotels. Of the 1211 symptomatic quarantined travellers that have been tested, 71 have returned positive tests.

NSW Health is urging people with symptoms, including mild symptoms, to be tested to ensure as many cases of COVID-19 in the community are as identified as quickly as possible.

This is particularly important in several new areas following a locally acquired case. These include Blacktown, Canada Bay, Cumberland, Inner West, Liverpool, Parramatta and Penrith Local Government Areas.
