As at 8pm Saturday, 2 May, 2020, an additional 4 cases of COVID-19 have been diagnosed since 8pm 1 May, bringing the total to 3,035.
During that time, 7,234 people were tested, compared to 8,809 in the 24 hours before.
NSW Health would like to thank those with symptoms for coming forward, getting tested and ensuring as many cases in the community are identified as quickly as possible.
There have now been 2,306 people who have recovered from COVID-19 in NSW.
There are currently 106 COVID-19 cases being treated by NSW Health. This includes 14 people being treated in Intensive Care Units, with 11 of those requiring ventilators. 75 per cent of cases are in non-acute, out-of-hospital care.
There has been one new death reported in the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 44 deaths in NSW from confirmed COVID-19 cases.
A 76-year-old female resident of Anglicare Newmarch House passed away on 2 May at Nepean Hospital. This brings the total number of deaths linked to the facility to 14. NSW Health extends its deepest condolences to her family.
There have been two new cases at Newmarch House, both in staff members, raising the total to 63 cases, including 26 staff and 37 residents, confirmed as positive.
While responsibility for aged care facilities rests with the Federal Government, NSW Health continues to provide specialist medical care and its infectious disease control expertise to Newmarch House. The facility is also being supported by infection control specialists from the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District and the Clinical Excellence Commission.
NSW Health has offered, and the Federal Government and Anglicare has agreed, to ensure all staff will be tested every day at the start of their shifts for COVID-19.
Residents continue to have the choice of being cared for in the facility through hospital in the home, or being treated in Nepean Hospital, depending on their Advanced Care Directive and their own personal wishes.
NSW Health is urging people with symptoms, including mild symptoms, to be tested to ensure as many cases in the community are as identified as quickly as possible.

NSW Health is alerting passengers who were close contacts of cases on flights to monitor for symptoms, and contact their GP, (call ahead before visiting), or call healthdirect on 1800 022 222, or visit a NSW Health COVID-19/Flu assessment clinic should they become unwell.
