COVID-19 (Coronavirus) statistics

As at 8pm, Tuesday 7 April 2020, an additional 48 cases of COVID-19 have been diagnosed, since 8pm 6 April, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in NSW to 2,734.

There are currently 227 COVID-19 cases being treated in NSW. This includes 36 cases in Intensive Care Units, and 22 of these require ventilators.

A further 2,945 people were tested for COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm Tuesday 7 April 2020.

Of the 121 symptomatic travellers quarantined in 15 hotels, 36 (30 per cent) have tested positive to COVID-19.

Current cruise ship voyages into Sydney linked to confirmed COVID-19 cases: the Ovation of the Seas which docked 18 March (96 passengers), the Voyager of the Seas which docked 18 March (39 passengers + 6 crew members), the Celebrity Solstice which docked 19 March (14 passengers) and the Ruby Princess which docked 19 March (361 passengers plus 18 crew members). There have been six deaths in NSW associated with the Ruby Princess.

A teacher at Middle Harbour Public School is a confirmed case. Risk assessment and investigations are underway.

Three staff members at two eastern suburbs schools who are linked socially are confirmed COVID-19 cases. The three are linked to both Bronte Public School and Waverley Public School and a risk assessment and investigations are underway.

A family in quarantine after returning from overseas was transported from a Sydney Hotel last night to a designated health hotel after two, an adult and a child, tested positive to COVID-19. All are displaying mild symptoms. They are being provided support and care.

NSW Health is alerting passengers who were close contacts on flights to monitor for symptoms, and contact their GP, but call ahead first, or call healthdirect on 1800 022 222, or visit a NSW Health COVID-19/Flu assessment clinic should they become unwell.
