People in the Griffith community will soon have the opportunity to have their say on the design of the exciting new $250 million Griffith Base Hospital.

Health Minister Brad Hazzard said the full concept design will be released for community consultation next month with a series of information sessions planned from October 17.

“The people of Griffith and surrounding communities will benefit from having all key clinical services under one roof in a new, purpose-built hospital that delivers modern, state-of-the-art health care,” Mr Hazzard said.

“We are getting on with the job of building quality health care facilities for the communities of regional and rural NSW with two-thirds of the hospital upgrades or redevelopments underway or commencing in 2019-20, happening in country NSW.

“This redevelopment is just one of 200 health projects completed or in progress since 2011 that the Liberals & Nationals Government has funded.

“We have committed $10.1 billion over four years to invest in NSW’s health infrastructure to continue current works and commence upgrading and building a further 29 hospitals and health facility projects in the next four years.”

The concept proposes a three-storey building which will include rehabilitation, surgical, and medical inpatient units; as well as maternity, nursery, paediatrics, renal and oncology services.

There will also be links with St Vincent’s Private Community Hospital (SVPCH) to promote sharing of services.

There is currently construction activity underway on the Griffith health campus to prepare for the future main works with the new hospital forecast to be completed 2024.
