The NSW Government has made a major commitment to preventing the use of seclusion and restraint in NSW Health facilities.

Mental Health Safety and Quality in NSW: A plan to implement recommendations of the Review of seclusion, restraint and observation of consumers with a mental illness in NSW Health facilities comes in response to the independent Review of seclusion, restraint and observation of consumers with a mental illness in NSW Health facilities undertaken by an expert panel last year. 

The implementation plan outlines 19 recommendations, with action being taken across seven key domains:
