Yarning about Quitting is a blended learning package for health professionals to build their capacity in offering culturally appropriate smoking cessation support to pregnant Aboriginal women and mothers. It is relevant for health professionals working with Aboriginal women, women having Aboriginal babies, and Aboriginal families.

The package offers evidence-based information for treatment of smoking in pregnancy. It also has a strong focus on communication skills, such as how to:

  • open a conversation about smoking and quitting
  • revisit the conversation over time (at other visits)
  • offer support and advice to help a woman make/sustain quit attempts.

Yarning about Quitting learning package

  1. Yarning about Quitting e-learning module
  2. A resource kit that trainers/educators can use for four hours of face-to-face training:
  3. Yarning about Quitting videos.

The package is designed for educators to on-train staff in their organisation. The eLearning module and DVD can be viewed independently, but these resources are best used as part of the whole learning package.
