Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr Ferguson has made himself available seven days per week to answer clinical questions and provide essential advice to staff, to ensure their safety and their ability to provide contemporary care to COVID-19 patients.
He has led education sessions for General Practitioners in the Hunter New England region regarding best infection prevention and control practices, and has reviewed and contributed to 84 COVID-19 documents.
He has also been instrumental in the development of guidelines for acute care, as part of the Clinical Excellence Commission and national expert groups for the COVID-19 response.
Through his extensive knowledge of infection prevention and control practices, Dr Ferguson continues to provide excellent support to all staff, and care to patients and their families, both in the hospital and community, every time.
