Aboriginal people are under-reported on population health datasets in NSW. This study developed a method to improve reporting of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples on administrative health data collections using record linkage.
The following datasets were linked: Australian Bureau of Statistics death registration data, Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages birth registration data, NSW Perinatal Data Collection, NSW Emergency Department Data Collection, NSW Admitted Patient Data, and the NSW Central Cancer Registry.
This report describes the methods and the results of the study, and provides advice on issues that should be considered when the method is used.
