The Older People's Drug and Alcohol Project was designed to improve the responses of NSW Health drug and alcohol and mental health services to the needs of older people with substance use issues.
This full Project Report is an in depth reference document, with detailed information and analysis relevant to this emerging area of policy. It includes current literature and policy, consultation findings, service utilisation data analysis, good practice service examples, and recommendations. It also includes important broader strategic issues, including issues related to aged and primary care services, accommodation, and research gaps.
This project report will be of use to mental health and drug and alcohol services, as well as other services and sectors who provide services for older people. It may help to expand awareness and improve understanding of the issues, and offers guidance on improving service responses.
There is also a summary report, which also includes project recommendations and is a more succinct resource for services; and a Report in Brief, which highlights the project’s key messages and is intended for a broader audience.
