First comprehensive antenatal assessment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander mothers

Overview

Between 2018 and 2022, the percentage of pregnant Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander women in NSW who commenced antenatal care at less than 14 weeks gestation increased from 73.6% to 79.1%, and the percentage that commenced antenatal care at less than 20 weeks gestation increased from 86.9% to 88.4%. By contrast, 79.4% of pregnant non-Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander women in NSW commenced antenatal care at less than 14 weeks gestation in 2022 and 92.7% at less than 20 weeks gestation.​
