The 2016 Summer Olympics will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 5 to 21 August, 2016, followed by the Paralympic Games which are scheduled from 7 to 18 September, 2016. Brazil is currently experiencing an outbreak of Zika virus, along with many other countries in South America and around the world. As Zika virus infection in pregnant women can cause serious birth defects in the baby, there is special advice for pregnant women travelling to Brazil.
