The percentage of women who gave birth in NSW and were teenagers fell from 1.9% in 2018 to 1.4% in 2022. Between 2018 and 2022, the percentage of women who gave birth in NSW aged 35 years or over rose from 25.1% to 27.8%
Between 2018 and 2022 the mean maternal age for women who gave birth in NSW rose from 30.9 to 31.4. The mean maternal age for primiparous women who gave birth between 2018 and 2022 rose from 29.5 to 30.1 years and for multiparous women rose from 31.9 to 32.3 years.
The percentage of women who gave birth in NSW for the first time aged 35 years or over was 17.2% in 2018 and 19.6% in 2022. The percentage of multiparous women who gave birth aged 35 years or over was 31.1% in 2018 and 34.2% in 2022
