NSW recorded no new locally acquired cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm last night.
Two new cases were acquired overseas, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases in NSW since the beginning of the pandemic to 4,945.
There were 14,518 tests reported to 8pm last night, compared with the previous day’s total of 16,397.
Today is the 26th day in a row with no reported locally acquired cases in NSW.
NSW Health is continuing to screen passengers arriving on flights from Victoria, and any person who enters NSW from Victoria by air or rail is required to complete a passenger declaration form.
Following a new case in Victoria overnight, NSW Health is advising anyone who was at Brunetti: Terminal 4, Melbourne Airport from 4:45am-1:15pm on Tuesday 9 February 2021, to immediately isolate, get tested and remain in isolation for 14 days since you were there.
Anyone who has returned from Victoria since 27 January is urged to check the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services website regularly, as public exposure sites are being regularly updated. If you have been to any of these sites, please follow the associated public health advice.
Investigations continue into the source of infection of a returned overseas traveller from the Wollongong area who tested positive for COVID-19 after being released from hotel quarantine. Further information will be released as it becomes available.
Genomic testing results indicate this case is not related to any other cases in hotel quarantine at the same time. Further investigations are underway to determine the source of the case, including the possibility that it is an old infection from overseas.
Restrictions are being eased today across the Greater Sydney region including Wollongong, Central Coast and Blue Mountains.
From 12:01am today, the one person per 2sqm will apply at all venues, except for gyms. Masks will only be mandatory on public transport and at airports, but will strongly be encouraged in other indoor venues where social distancing is not possible. Weddings and funerals will still be subject to a 300 person cap.
Maintaining high testing numbers is vital to keeping our community and loved ones safe. NSW Health urges anybody with any cold-like symptoms to come forward for testing, and to isolate until they receive a negative result.

NSW Health is treating 36 COVID-19 cases, none of whom are in intensive care. Most cases (97 cent) are being treated in non-acute, out-of-hospital care, including returned travellers in the Special Health Accommodation.
