Mortality and Hospitalisation Due to Injury in the Aboriginal Population of New South Wales

Summary

Injury and poisoning contribute a considerable proportion of deaths and hospitalisations of Aboriginal people in NSW each year. This report provides a detailed profile of counts, standardised rates and rate ratios of injury related hospitalisation and mortality among Aboriginal people in NSW. By stratifying analyses by sex, age and geographical area, subgroups of the Aboriginal population at higher risk of injury are highlighted. Injury severity, trends over time, frequency of readmission and alcohol attributable injuries are also examined.​​​
